About the Paragon Gallery
The Paragon Gallery is a co-op made up of 14 local artists. Currently, there are 2 glass artists, 1 ceramicist, 1 jeweler, 1 photographer, 2 leather artists, 1 paper artist, 2 fabric artists, 1 pen and ink artist, and 3 painters. When there is an opening in the gallery, artists get judged in as members of the co-op. Some artists have been members for 20 years and some for just a few months! Each member works 1/2 a day a week and has certain jobs within the gallery in order to keep the place running.
The co-op members donate their time and a portion of their proceeds for special community events: The People’s Fair, art projects for CB Community School (purchasing digital cameras, funding art supplies, selling ‘art cards’ made by the students which 100% of the proceeds go back to the school), displaying 2 different local artists each month as the Gallery’s “Guest Artists”. The Paragon Gallery is also very generous with donations for local non-profit events. Plus, every artist gifts 1% of their sales to the Crested Butte Open Land Trust.
The Paragon Gallery has been featuring the work of Gunnison and Crested Butte residents since 1979. First conceived as a venue for Gunnison County artists to display their work at a non-juried event, the artists of The Paragon Gallery continue to offer a friendly, affordable venue for new and emerging artists.
