KRISTEN ANDERSON
In November of 2004, the owner of a pet boutique asked Kristen Anderson to do a few paintings for her store, Mountain Tails. The paintings sold almost immediately and Kristen decided to put her other art projects on hold to expand her subject matter from just dogs on to landscapes, western motifs and other pets (including cats and horses).
Kristen has lived in Crested Butte since 1995. She had various jobs, as do most people in the town, but continued moonlighting with her art. She has taken various art classes at Western State College to stay creative and to learn new techniques.
In 2003, Kristen gave birth to twin boys, Benjamin and Evan. It was then that she realized that working at home was the only way to watch her boys grow and to actually “make it” in the beautiful Rocky Mountains. So, with the help of some friends, “freckle-face.com” was born into the wide-web-world and she began marketing her art.
Kristen travels to different dog shows and art shows throughout Colorado. This is where she commissions most of her “pet portraits”. The response to the style has been outstanding and Kristen is finding herself getting busier and busier just by word-of-mouth.
